When did you join BHP?

I joined BHP on 5th August 1991!

What attracted you to work for the firm?

I did a work experience stint at the firm in my GCSE year for a week and then again for one day a week for a period of six months when I was in college, which I really enjoyed. So it seemed like the obvious next step to apply for a full-time role here.

What does your day-to-day role involve?

A typical day involves resource planning, and speaking to and meeting with clients, as well as liaising with colleagues in other departments.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people! Both within the organisation and with our clients. After 32 years, you forge some long-lasting relationships.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up and went to school in Dronfield and then went on to Chesterfield College. I didn’t go to University as I decided to start work when I was 18 – here at BHP!

What do you enjoy doing outside work?

I enjoy socialising and holidays with family and friends, and I also like going to the gym.

What is the best meal you’ve ever eaten and why?

This changes on a regular basis! At the moment, I really like Urban Pitta. I’m definitely not into posh food!

If you could learn something new and money was no object, what would it be?

I’d quite like to learn how to play the piano.

What item can’t you live without?

I couldn’t live without music – not sure it’s an item though!

What do you prefer – a TV series, book or film? What are your favourites?

I love a 9pm TV drama, if I can stay awake!

When are you the happiest?

I’m happiest spending a day pottering in the garden, followed by drinks with friends.

What is the best place you have ever visited and why?

I can’t pick one single place, but I really like going on a city break in the spring.

Where is your dream destination?

It would be Japan to see the cherry blossom.
