We are seeking a forward-thinking and experienced Project Manager to join our IT team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business project delivery, with a particular focus on system delivery. Working with the CIO to implement good practice, this role is crucial for driving our technology and change transformation initiatives as we continue to mature as a business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Project Planning and Execution:

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT and business projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Accountability: Develop and execute comprehensive project plans which fit with the overall programme
  • Measurement: Tracking the adherence to the project timeline, budget, and scope with relevant KPIs

Stakeholder Management:

Work with stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs, manage expectations, and ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Accountability: Identify and engage all relevant stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle
  • Measurement: Stakeholder satisfaction surveys, feedback sessions, and the frequency and quality of communication can be used to measure effectiveness. High stakeholder engagement and positive feedback are indicators of success.

Delivery Techniques:

Utilise various delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches, selecting the most appropriate method for each project.

  • Accountability: Ensure that the correct delivery method is chosen for each project and that project deliverables meet the required quality standards and are fit for purpose
  • Measurement: Quality to be measured through defect rates, compliance with quality standards, and user acceptance testing results

Risk Management:

Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Accountability: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact the project’s success
  • Measurement: Fully documented Risk Matrix, with risks either mitigated or accepted

Team Leadership:

Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Manage your own time and that of others to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.

Governance & Change Management:

Implementing governance models to drive change management initiatives to ensure the successful adoption of new systems and processes.

  • Accountability: Fully implemented and working change management framework
  • Measurement: Rate of adoption, user satisfaction, and the reduction in resistance to change. Measured through surveys and feedback from project stakeholders and wider organisation

Continuous Improvement:

Promote a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned to enhance future project delivery.

 

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills, experience and qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT and business project delivery, with a focus on system delivery
  • Proven track record of managing projects using various delivery techniques, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid approaches
  • Experience of setting up and working with a PMO would be advantageous
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is preferred

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
