VAT waiver grant funding for accident rescue organisations

In the 2017 Autumn Budget, Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond announced a one-off grant fund to help accident rescue charities in England recover the cost of normally irrecoverable VAT. A fixed fund of no more than £100,000 for the grant has now been made available.

The Department of Health and Social Care will be administering this grant funding scheme and has published guidance on eligibility and how to apply. Accident rescue charities must submit an expression of interest form by 30 June 2018 to assess whether they qualify to make a claim.

It should be noted that organisations that are already entitled to recover VAT through the existing statutory VAT refund scheme for search and rescue charities, air ambulances and medical courier charities are not eligible to apply.
