Tax summaries now available online

The 8 million people who electronically filed their 2013/14 self-assessment tax return on time are now able to view their tax summary online, HMRC has announced.

The new summaries will give taxpayers information about how much tax and national insurance they paid during the tax year, and how it was spent by the government.

You can view your tax summary by logging into your HMRC online account and clicking on the ‘View your 2013 to 2014 tax summary’ option.

Taxpayers that missed the 31 January deadline will not be able to see their tax summary until they send in their completed online return.

Financial Secretary to the Treasury, David Gauke, said:

“Taxpayers have a right to know how the government is spending their tax and National Insurance contributions. The government promised to provide transparent information about its expenditure and these summaries deliver on that promise.”
