Northern Ireland international trade scheme launched

A support scheme designed to help businesses in Northern Ireland trade internationally has been launched by the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce (NICC).

The NI Chamber Connections programme will enable firms to contact over 400,000 chamber members around the world who can offer advice about entering overseas markets.

The scheme will also allow businesses to connect to local chamber contacts, offering opportunities to learn from other Northern Ireland businesses who already export.

The scheme aims to:

  • teach local businesses how to enter overseas markets
  • provide advice on how to be successful in international trade
  • demonstrate how to achieve business growth through exports.

Ann McGregor, chief executive of the NICC, said:

“It is vital that Northern Ireland firms take a global perspective when they are doing business. Exporting is central to the growth of the Northern Ireland economy – but it is not always an easy road to navigate.

“NI Chamber is uniquely placed as it is also a member of the worldwide chamber network, and as a result we have access to contacts in countries all over the world who are be able to assist companies make useful contacts in international markets.”
