Barber Harrison & Platt (BHP), Yorkshire’s largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants, has announced the appointment of new tax partner Chris Humphreys.

BHP’s tax team, which has been recognised nationally at the British Accountancy Awards, is going from strength to strength, and Chris brings yet more talent to this excellent team.

Chris joins BHP from BDO (formerly PKF) where he previously acted as Head of Tax for the Yorkshire region, and also Partner in Charge of the Sheffield office. Chris’ appointment follows the retirement of tax partner Peter Cross and forms part of the firm’s succession planning. In his new role at BHP Chris will provide advisory services that cover the full range of taxes.

Managing Partner John Warner said “We are thrilled to welcome Chris to the team. His experience of advising high net worth individuals and owner managed entrepreneurial businesses fits perfectly with BHP’s advisory ethos.”

Chris added “I am delighted to join BHP, which is growing throughout Yorkshire. The firm’s down to earth, straight forward approach supports my own focus on looking at tax issues with a commercial eye and explaining them in a way that takes the jargon out of complex tax legislation.”

Chris is based in the firm’s Sheffield office, but will be working to support clients throughout the region.
