What does your day-to-day role involve?
A typical day in my role as an assistant accountant in the healthcare team includes preparing GP partnership accounts, tax returns, and limited company accounts.
What do you enjoy most about working in the healthcare department?
I enjoy the fact that every day is different and that no day is the same. I also enjoy the people within the department; everyone is always willing to help and are always friendly.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
My proudest achievement to date is passing my AAT Level 3 exams and moving on to the next set of exams. I am now studying towards my ACCA qualification.
My proudest achievement outside of work was representing Nottinghamshire for gymnastics in the regional championships and placing second as a team.
What advice would you give to trainees starting out?
To ask questions, there is no such thing as a silly question, and there is always someone who is willing to help.
What’s your favourite time of year?
It’s definitely summer. Being half Aussie, I live for the sun. As soon as the sun comes out, you will often find me in my garden, soaking up the sun and trying to catch a tan.
What might surprise people to learn about you?
When I was younger, I was an elite gymnast, and I trained with people who are now Olympians.
What is your favourite thing to do for fun on a weekend?
My favourite thing to do at the weekend is to shop. I love going to Meadowhall and am ashamed to admit that I go at least twice a week!
Do you have any strange phobias?
I am petrified of butterflies and moths.
