Paul Blackman, BHP Consulting

Paul is a senior business improvement consultant and mentor with a difference. His wealth of experience means he works within many sectors but specialises in Manufacturing, Retail improvement, Logistics and Service Operations.

In the past he has worked with variety of organisations of various sizes; including multi-national sites, consisting of various nationalities and operational types. This has given him ‘real life’ experience of how to get to the core of an issue and solve it effectively, whilst also uniting the management team in the process.

He brings valuable knowledge ability to deliver sustainable, practical solutions to often complex business issues. His solutions are driven by identifying the relevant data required to implement a new and refined process to suit the strategic objective.

As a true ‘people person’ he supports Business Owners, Directors and Senior Managers to quickly identify improvement opportunities within their current business and then implement plans for realistic and profitable change, while keeping an eye on costs and best use of resource. Paul’s input and support is aimed at improving all aspects of business performance resulting in effective future growth strategies.

Dean Pearson, Tax Partner, BHP

Dean heads up BHP’s Research & Development advisory practice, which has saved clients a cumulative total of £17.5m over the last 2 years.

Dean and his team work closely with business owners, technical staff and in-house accountants to ensure all R&D opportunities are identified and that a robust report is prepared to accompany the claim to HMRC.

His team have identified R&D opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, fintech, logistics, construction and food processing.

Dean is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Dean’s specialisms include:

  • Over 10 years experience in preparing R&D and patent box claims for companies across a wide range of sectors.
  • Corporation Tax as part of a wider range of business advice.
  • Company share and business valuations for tax purposes.
  • Expert tax advice to property developers and investors, including VAT and SDLT planning.

Kevin Davies, Corporate Finance Partner, BHP Corporate Finance

Kevin is a partner in BHP’s corporate finance team. Since moving to the team in 2006 he has worked on a range of transactions across a variety of sectors.

He has been involved in some of the region’s most high-profile fundraisings which recently include the investment by Elysian Capital in SCX Special Projects, and the management buy-outs of Advanced Alloy Services and Nationwide Stainless.

Kevin takes great pleasure in working closely with owner-managers, developing strong relationships and helping them achieve their aspirations.
