Concerns over banking fraud and identity theft head the list of major security anxieties of Britons.
The latest Unisys Security Index, which measures the unease consumers feel about issues of personal and national security, found that bank card fraud topped the nation’s worries, cited as it was by 93 per cent of respondents to the survey.
Next came identity theft on 92 per cent.
The index also registered the fact that the number of consumers who have serious doubts about their ability to meet their financial obligations over the next six months has doubled since the last survey.
In 2010, some 102,000 cases of bank card fraud were reported to the authorities, although the actual total of the victims of card fraudsters could be even higher.
