HMRC begins to send out new PAYE coding notices

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has said that it has begun the process of sending out new PAYE coding notices.

Some, but not all, taxpayers will be issued with new tax codes for the year 2011/12.

The new tax codes will be used by employers and pension providers to make sure that taxpayers pay the correct amounts in tax and receive the allowances and reliefs to which they are entitled.

HMRC said that it will inform employers and pension providers of the new codes.

If, however, a taxpayer employs an agent, then the taxpayer will need to inform the agent of any changes in their tax coding.
