BHP has announced 36 promotions, marking an important milestone as the business continues on its growth journey.
The promotions span a range of roles across the business, demonstrating the firm’s continued growth and commitment to developing its people, and covering BHP’s offices in Sheffield, Leeds, York, Cleckheaton and Chesterfield.
They include the promotion of Claire Millington to audit partner. Claire joined BHP in 2021 and has made a significant impact, supporting clients in the pensions sector. Her promotion reflects both her expertise and the strength of BHP’s expanding audit offering.
Claire said: “I’m proud to step into the role of Partner, and I’m committed to continuing the strong support we provide to our pensions clients. This sector demands precise technical understanding and proactive guidance, and our team is focused on delivering exactly that. I’m also excited to help drive our audit expansion and ensure we remain a trusted advisor for clients across the country.”
Lisa Leighton, Joint Managing Partner at BHP, said: “Celebrating 36 promotions across the firm is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of. These promotions highlight the exceptional talent, dedication, and progression happening throughout every part of our business.”
The promotions come at a pivotal moment for BHP as it transitions to a new visual identity, with the firm’s familiar blue branding evolving to Sumer’s signature orange. While the brand refresh marks the start of an exciting new chapter, BHP’s approach to its people, values and dedication to clients remains unchanged.
Lisa added: “While our branding is changing, our people remain at the heart of everything we do. Their achievements reflect the strength of our teams and the values that continue to drive us forward.
“Becoming part of Sumer enhances the opportunities available to both our clients and our colleagues. The wider national network gives our people even greater scope to develop their expertise, collaborate, and grow their careers. As we celebrate these 36 well-deserved promotions, we’re excited about the future and the expanded possibilities this next chapter brings.”
BHP joined Sumer Group in December 2025. The investment represented a major strategic milestone for Sumer and expands the group’s footprint across Yorkshire, strengthens its national corporate finance capabilities and brings another values-led firm that blends entrepreneurial energy with the depth of expertise clients rely on. By joining Sumer, BHP gains a stronger platform to deliver its £100m ambition while preserving what makes it trusted across Yorkshire.
