What is your role at BHP/Translink?
I’m a partner in the Corporate Finance team. I work closely with owner-managers, corporate and private equity clients, with a particular focus on M&A strategy and execution.
Since specialising in Corporate Finance in 2008, I have built a wide range of experience across various sectors, including TMT, Logistics, Manufacturing and Business Services, with a high volume of these transactions being cross-border.
Clients have described me as a cornerstone in the successful completion of the transaction, always on top of the facts and totally on the ball in constantly changing situations.
What are you most passionate about?
Achieving successful outcomes, whether they be personal goals or assisting others (clients, colleagues, family) to help reach their own aspirations.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with many successful businesses, both in the UK and overseas. In many instances, these business owners have invested blood, sweat and tears over numerous years to build valuable assets. We recognise the trust these clients place in us and work with the collective global expertise of Translink to help them get the deal done – whilst having fun at the same time.
What keeps you motivated?
The desire for personal growth and the sense of accomplishment that this creates, both for myself and the people who have been instrumental in my success.
Life presents us with unlimited opportunities to grow as individuals.
What advice would you give trainees starting out?
Have fun! You’ll spend more than a third of your life at work, so it’s important that you enjoy what you do. Whatever your personal goals, we’re here to support each other to develop individually and collectively – ask lots of questions and if you are not sure about anything, speak to someone. We’re all happy to share our experience in a particular situation and help grow your skills.
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Keeping active, particularly running for both the physical and mental benefits, supporting Sheffield United football club and travelling – watching the world go by from a picturesque piazza in Italy or enjoying the thrills of a white-knuckle ride in Florida offer a perfect reset.
