What is your role at BHP?
I am a Partner in BHP’s Deal Advisory team, specialising in supporting owner-managed and privately owned businesses through transactions typically in the £2m–£30m range. I provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice across buy side, sell side and fundraising mandates.
My background is in mid-market M&A, and I take a people-first approach to every engagement. I work closely with shareholders, management teams and investors to deliver high-quality outcomes and a smooth, well-managed transaction process. For many business owners, a transaction is more than a financial event, it’s personal. My role is to ensure clients feel supported, well prepared and confidently represented at every stage.
I’m currently leading the development and growth of BHP’s dedicated Deal Advisory offering, building a team with strong technical capability and a commitment to exceptional client service.
If you’re preparing for a transaction, exploring strategic options or planning for future value realisation, I’d be delighted to help.
What are you most passionate about?
I’m genuinely passionate about getting to know the people behind the businesses I work with. Every client has a different story, a different motivation and a different definition of success. Understanding what makes them tick and then finding the right solution that truly supports their goals is what I enjoy most about my role. No two days or two businesses are ever the same, and that variety is something I really thrive on.
What keeps you motivated?
I’m motivated by the impact our work can have on clients at pivotal moments in their business journey. Transactions are often once-in-a-lifetime events, and being trusted to guide someone through that process is a privilege. Seeing clients achieve the outcomes they’ve worked so hard for, whether that’s growth, investment or value realisation, is incredibly rewarding. I’m also driven by the people around me; working with a talented, supportive team who care deeply about doing the right thing keeps me energised and focused.
What advice would you give trainees starting out?
To quote Ted Lasso; “Be curious!” ask questions and take every opportunity to learn from the people around you. Technical skills will develop over time, but building strong relationships and understanding how people think and make decisions is just as important in this profession. Don’t be afraid to get involved, and don’t underestimate the value of listening. The more you understand your clients and colleagues, the better advisor you’ll become. And finally, enjoy it. This job can be challenging, but it’s incredibly rewarding if you embrace the journey.
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Weekends are all about family time for me. I have a young family, so most of my time is spent doing fun activities with the kids, when I’m not standing on the side of a football pitch or cricket field cheering them on! I also love spending time with friends and family, eating out and making the most of those moments that let you switch off and enjoy the people around you.
