When you think of glamorous rock stars, you would be forgiven for not linking their career paths to those of accountants. However, three local musicians, all of whom work at Yorkshire’s leading independent firm of chartered accountants Barber Harrison & Platt (BHP), find that the stability offered by their day jobs gives them the perfect foundations to support their creativity.
BHP’s Nick Davies (Senior Consultant – Employment Solutions), Adam Gourlay (IT assistant) and Joe Troughton (accountant) are all part of Sheffield’s local and well respected music scene, with their bands The Janskys, Animated and Kartica respectively.
The bands take to the stage along with four other local acts (Dave Woodcock, 6Needles, Dave Sleney and Chris Murphy & Boxer Genius) this Sunday to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Charity and Cancer Support Centre.
Nick Davies, bass player in The Janskys said, “it’s brilliant to work at a firm that supports the local community by having a charity of the year and following the success of last year’s gig it’s great that we can expand the number of local acts and prove that Sheffield has got a varied and vibrant music scene as well as raising money for such a worthwhile charity.”
