The proposed 2025/26 GP contract includes an additional £889m core funding, adding to the £433m increase from autumn 2024.
Key Financial Changes:
- Global sum per weighted patient rising to £121.90 from £112.50 (8.4% increase)
- Childhood immunisation fees to increase by £2 to £12.06.
- Locum reimbursement funding to increase by between 15.9% and 17.1% due to the recent DDRB increases.
- QOF – 32 indicators (worth 212 points) will be permanently retired with the funding moved to global sum and other QOF indicators. 141 points (totalling an additional £198m) will be added to the nine CVD indicators. Upper thresholds for these indicators will increase, whilst the lower thresholds remain unchanged.
- ARRS funding to be expanded to include practice nurses.
- ARRS funding for GPs to increase by £9,305 to £82,418 (plus on costs) in line with the BMA recommended pay range. There will be no cap on the number of GPs which have be engaged under the scheme.
- A new enhanced service for pre-referral advice to be introduced at £20 per item of service.
- From October ’25, patients must be able to submit routine, non-urgent requests online during core hours.
