What is your role at BHP?
I joined BHP in 1996 after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. I’m a member of the ICAEW Healthcare Group and BHP’s NASDAL representative. With over three decades of experience, I lead a diverse portfolio of healthcare clients, including GP Practices, Primary Care Networks, GP Federations, Locum GPs, Hospital Consultants, Dental Practices, and Dental Associates.
I work closely with business owners throughout every stage of their journey, from setting up a new practice to navigating growth and expansion, improving profitability, and planning for retirement. My goal is to help clients achieve success on their own terms, with tailored support that evolves as their needs change.
What are you most passionate about?
Healthcare professionals dedicate themselves to helping others, and I love being the person who supports them, whether that’s through financial clarity, stress reduction, or serving as a trusted advisor. I’m passionate about making a meaningful difference. Knowing that my work helps create space for my clients to focus on patient care and make a real impact in their communities is what drives me.
What keeps you motivated?
I’m motivated by the relationships I build with my clients. Whether it’s helping a GP practice navigate changes to partner and property ownership, supporting an associate in buying a dental practice, or delivering a finance course to healthcare trainees, I find real fulfilment in making my clients’ lives easier and more rewarding.
What advice would you give trainees starting out?
My advice to trainee accountants is: don’t be afraid to ask questions and take time to understand the “why” behind what you’re doing. Building strong relationships and being kind to yourself along the way are just as important as technical skills; every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Outside of work, I enjoy walking in the Peak District, especially around Chatsworth House and Bakewell. I also love meals out with friends and family, good food and great company are my favourite way to unwind and recharge for the week ahead.
