Tax Partner
Fletcher Adamowicz
What is your role at BHP?
I joined BHP 4 years ago as a tax partner and have been Head of Tax since April 2024. In my role as Head of Tax, I lead a team of around 70 people, with a focus on setting strategy and building BHP’s tax offering both in breadth and depth. In my ‘day job’ I provide commercial tax advice to entrepreneurs, management teams and their businesses, with a specialism in transactions – fundraising, M&A and private equity buy-outs.
What are you most passionate about?
I love meeting new people and hearing stories about how they came to be where they are. For much of my career, this has been from clients and professionals, but it applies equally to the people I work with. As I get (slightly) closer to the end of my career than the start, it is hugely rewarding to see people coming ‘through the ranks’ who will eventually lead the business after me.
What keeps you motivated?
I have a natural desire to problem solve, and being able to help people who have reached a place in business and life through hard work and sacrifice through application of my knowledge and expertise is an incredibly rewarding experience.
What advice would you give trainees starting out?
Try everyone once. Then try it again. It’s very hard to plan a career, and some of the best things happen when you least expect them – so breadth of experience is crucial. Always ask questions. If you don’t understand something, even if everyone else is nodding along, ask – the other who stayed quiet tend to be very grateful that you did!
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
I’m at the stage of life where I’m just about moving on from Dad’s Taxi (though I do hear it never truly ends). My wife and I are big foodies and wine snobs and are enjoying reacquainting ourselves with the UK’s fine dining establishments. I am a (very amateur) hobbyist writer, game designer, and photographer. When trying not to be too sedentary, I will be walking or indoor rock climbing.
