What is your role at BHP?
I joined the team in 2014 with the responsibility of developing the BHP brand in York and North Yorkshire, establishing an office and managing the growth in this part of the region. I have 25 years of knowledge and practical experience in providing accountancy, audit, and business advisory services to a range of owner-managed businesses and SMEs across a wide variety of sectors, including technology, manufacturing, property, retail, and agriculture.
As a Partner and member of the Digital Finance team, my passion lies in helping business owners not only meet their financial obligations but truly understand and harness the numbers that drive their success. I work closely with entrepreneurs at every stage, from ambitious start-ups to established companies looking to scale. I pride myself on providing tailored advice, strategic insight, and hands-on support.
I view my role not just as an accountant but as a trusted advisor and an extension of a client’s leadership or financial team. Whether it’s streamlining operations, planning for growth, improving cash flow, or navigating complex tax landscapes, I aim to bring clarity and confidence to the decision-making process. Every business is different, and I take the time to understand each client’s goals, challenges, and vision for the future.
By combining financial expertise with a commercial mindset, my passion is to help business owners stay in control, stay compliant, and, most importantly, stay focused on doing what they do best. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about the people behind them.
What are you most passionate about?
Helping others. Outside of work, my greatest joy comes from watching my two young daughters thrive and grow. Seeing the world through their eyes keeps me grounded, curious, and constantly learning – qualities I bring into my professional life too. Their energy and resilience remind me daily of the importance of balance, long-term thinking, and building a future with care and intention.
What keeps you motivated?
Always wanting to do and be better. Helping others, whether it be family, friends, clients, or colleagues.
What advice would you give trainees starting out?
Stay curious, or be nosey! Ask lots of questions; this will ensure you understand the ‘bigger picture’ and why the numbers matter.
What is your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Spending time with the family, looking after various animals and going on gentle and not-so-gentle walks in the countryside.
