Vote of confidence for BHP’s charity expertise

Yorkshire and Derbyshire’s leading accountancy firm, BHP, is celebrating success for the third consecutive year in Charity Finance magazine’s Audit Survey.

BHP have been ranked joint third for Charity Expertise with 100% of clients awarding the top rating of ‘good’, as well as coming in fourth place for Overall Service at 94%.

The results were published as part of the annual Charity Audit Survey, published by Charity Finance magazine, which this year received responses from over 700 charities across the UK – of which 31 related to BHP – benchmarking their auditor’s charity expertise, overall service level and commitment to the voluntary sector.

BHP also performed particularly well in several new survey categories introduced this year for proactive advice during the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically for general financial support and being contactable.

Jane Marshall, head of charities and not-for-profit at BHP, said: “We take great pride in taking the time to really understand the charities we work with both from an organisational and personal perspective, so would like to thank those charities who recognised our efforts and helped us earn this achievement.

“The circumstances challenging the world right now mean all charities face a great deal of uncertainty, and I think it’s incredibly important for charities to partner with an organisation equipped with the sector knowledge needed to guide them through this difficult period.”

BHP has a wide range of expertise and experience in providing auditing, accounting, tax and advisory services to over 280 charities and not-for-profit organisations.

Their clients include incorporated entities, trusts, and social enterprises, who are carrying out diverse activities including academies, grant making organisations, hospices, the social care sector, independent schools, museums, theatres, religious organisations and students unions.

Many members of the 60-person-team are charity trustees and school governors, with a deep understanding of the challenges the sector faces, and a number also hold the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA).
