Family Investment Companies (“FICs”) have gained a lot of interest in the last few years. They are just one thing to think about when it comes to your wider tax and estate planning strategy. They won’t be suitable for everyone, but they are something to consider during your tax planning discussions and are often considered either instead of or in conjunction with the use of family trusts.

Why and when should you consider a FIC? Our expert panel of speakers will guide you through all the legal, financial planning and tax considerations you need to think about when considering whether a FIC is the right option for you and your family.

The webinar will be chaired by Amanda Waterhouse who leads the Northern tax team at BHP and Viv Wild, Head of Private Wealth and Partner at Clarion.

The speaker panel includes:

  • Suzy Harris-Milnes, Partner and Head of Private Client, BHP – Suzy has over 25 years of experience advising individuals on personal tax matters. Typically, business owners, Suzy works with clients to ensure their tax affairs are structured in the most tax-efficient manner and this involves working closely with the client and other advisors such as lawyers and financial advisers.
  • Sarah Harrison, Senior Associate,  Corporate team, Clarion – Sarah has particularly strong experience in working with owner-managed businesses, Sarah is a problem solver who thrives on getting to know clients and their objectives in order to provide solutions that are tailored to their needs and desires. Sarah works closely with Private Wealth advisers to deliver estate planning solutions for high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
  • Tim Clasper, Chartered Financial Planning, BHP – Tim works closely with colleagues and Clarion to ensure a coherent approach to financial planning for business owners and directors –as well as dealing with a range of private clients advising on pensions, inheritance tax and cash flow planning.
