Speaker bios

Victoria Boldison
Victoria is a multi-award winning Chartered Marketer and has worked internationally for all of her career within start-up, SME and large corporation environments marketing and selling food, drink, supplements and medical devices around the world.

Multilingual with an MA Hons from the University of Oxford and an executive MBA from Leeds Business School, Victoria now runs Bolst Global, an international business consultancy and export solutions provider supporting those businesses operating in global food, drink and supplement sectors.

Her vision and passion with Bolst Global is to help as many ambitious and internationally oriented companies from around the world in the food, drink and supplement space to grow overseas. Both for existing exporters and those new to export, Victoria strives to provide her clients both online and offline with the tools, knowledge and connections to make global growth a reality.

Silvia Tarchi
Silvia Tarchi joined YSDS in 2017 as UK Country Manager, heading Leeds and London offices. With nearly two decades of experience as a logistics professional, Silvia has a proven track record and expertise in global logistics, business development, logistics consultancy, risk and product ownership. She previously held key positions in leading FMCG companies in the United States and Europe.

James Houseman
James is a Senior Manager in the Leeds tax team, with over ten years of experience. James joined BHP from McLaren Automotive Limited, where he held several positions. For three years, he was the Tax Manager and managed the direct and indirect taxes for the global automotive group, followed by a year as Finance Manager at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in Sheffield. Before joining McLaren, he worked at KPMG in the corporate tax team.

James has experience across most tax areas, including R&D tax relief, employment tax matters, customs/global trade matters and tax accounting, as well as management accounting and system implementation experience.

Paul Blackman
Paul is a senior business improvement consultant and mentor with a difference. His wealth of experience means he works within many sectors but specialises in Export, Manufacturing, Retail improvement, Logistics and Service Operations.

He has worked with various organisations of various sizes, including multinational sites, consisting of multiple nationalities and operational types. This has given him ‘real life’ experience of getting to the core of an issue and solving it effectively whilst also uniting the management team in the process. He brings valuable knowledge and the ability to deliver sustainable, practical solutions to often complex business issues. His solutions are driven by identifying the relevant data required to implement a new and refined process to suit the strategic objective.

James Wakely
Operations Director of Just Kampers, who is a specialist in the VW aftermarket arena.

James is an expert in all areas of e-commerce and B2C UK and international trade and offers a detailed understanding of the needs of consumers in both the UK and the EU.

Previously Operations Director of a UK based international trading business specialising in direct to retail and volume B2c sales.

Helen Oldham
Helen is a Founding Board Director of NorthInvest, a not for profit, early-stage investment connector for Northern based tech start-ups. She is also a NED, mentor, investor, and Chair of the Trustees for Smart Works Leeds, a charity that provides coaching and clothing to unemployed women.

Helen has a passion for supporting female entrepreneurs, leaders, and Northern-based SME’s to reach their potential and helping them to shape and deliver ambitious growth strategies through simple, actionable steps.

Before the launch of NorthInvest, Helen was the Managing Director of The Yorkshire Post and The Scotsman.
